In my family, celebrations call for cocktails.

So does happy hour. Which happens daily throughout every season of the year. No exceptions. No exemptions (like Sundays or being down with a cold etc). No special occasion needed. My mom is a traditionalist so she adheres to the 5 o’clock rule. This is serious business. Sometimes if she is feeling especially carefree we may catch her uttering the classic caveat: “It’s 5 o’clock somewhere”. Feel free to use that if you too are rulesy but need an out to day drink. If it works for my mom, Jimmy Buffet and Alan Jackson, it will most certainly work for you. We’re east coast so she also adheres to the no wearing white after Labor Day. I’ll let you live your own truth on that one.
